A new addition to the farm, 9 week old Tommy. Eve

A new addition to the farm, 9 week old Tommy. Eventually he will join our 3 other farm cats, hopefully proving to be an expert rat catcher! Currently, his home is one of the sheds with lots of extra comforts. A real character, very confident and assertive who is already making his mark and seeing off Sybil. The other cats are quite scared of him, it will be interesting to see the reaction when he is let out.....Obviously a lot of wasted time is spent 'socialising' in the shed with him!! #kitten #farmcat #catstandoff #farmstay #pembrokeshirecoastpath #workingfarm #petfriendly #sustainablefarming

Shearing day at last, a lot of noisy protesting when the lambs and ewes were separated but the ewes are so much more comfortable now. The risk of fly strike is very high at the moment with all the sunshjne and then a bit of rain, having had one bad year with it we watch the sheep very very carefully for any signs. The lambs have been treated with Clik and once the ewes' fleeces grow a bit we will do the same with them. We now have 4 very full dumpy bags full of wool, which are surplus to requirements....any ideas? The dreaded annual TB test this morning. Every cow over 6 weeks has to be tested so the 3 littlest calves (last picture) were too young. We get the results Thursday. We have had so many fantastic reviews it makes all the hard work worth it. It is so amazingly beautiful here and we feel incredibly lucky but it is always nice to be appreciated!. This is one of our most recent reviews which we read at the end of a day lambing and calving which had pushed us to the limit (we are not getting any younger!), it definitely brought tears to my eyes. Not too horrible for morning chores! Still bottle

Not too horrible for morning chores! Still bottle feeding 9 lambs, little do they know weaning in 3 days so let's hope they are appreciating it! We have had lots of help from guests in the holiday let this year but it will still be great to finish it. Having the quad is wonderful but means we have to limit the cake eating (great shame!)

The lamb has never let anyone touch her before.....She was found with her twin still trying to feed from her mum who had dropped down dead in the field. She has always been very anxious and nervous around people but has suddenly found her soul mate! Not sure who is enjoying it more!! How come May is such a beautiful month? All the amazing wildflowers, the lush grass, the sunsets and not forgetting those gorgeous lambs must be something to do with it! The last photo is our little miracle girl, now recovering from the brink of death with lots of bottled milk, new grass and not forgetting the TLC!!
