Tree Planting
15/12/2021
At last we have planted some trees, we have been talking about this ever since we moved in 4 years ago, so pleased we have finally managed it. We bought them from the Woodland Trust, one ‘Shelter Belt’ pack and a couple of ‘Coppicing’ packs, a total of 630 trees. A mixture of english oak, sessile oak, rowan, hawthorn, wild cherry, grey willow, downy birch and field maple. These trees will serve several functions, one create an environment for a multitude of wildlife, two provide shade and shelter for the livestock and eventually provide some wood for the woodburners. If feels really good to be planting something!
Of course this does depend on whether any survive in our very inhospitable environment, trees really do struggle in this environment with the wind and salt but fingers crossed!
