First beef arrives

Finally our first beef from a cow born and bred on the farm, 100% grass fed, with animal welfare a priority. We allow our animals to grow naturally and mature slowly without feeding concentrated feeds (including grains and soya). We pay attention to every aspect of their lives, keeping stress to a minimum.  We find a daily scratch really helps with this!

The following are amongst the benefits found in produce from livestock raised solely upon a pasture-based diet. All are backed up by independent, peer-reviewed and published research papers:

 Lower in total fat
 Lower in the saturated fats linked with heart disease
 Higher in total omega-3 fatty acids (good fats)
 A healthier ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids
 Higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a potential cancer fighter
 Higher in vaccenic acid (which can be turned into CLA)
 Higher in vitamin E
 Higher in B vitamins
 Higher in beta-carotene
 Higher in the minerals calcium, magnesium and potassium

All these benefits and it tastes better!!  The meat was hung for 3 weeks, jointed and vacuum packed by a local butcher Gwuan Meats and returned to us ready to be frozen, the chest freezer is bursting at the seams. It feels like we have been waiting so long……..

Our plan is to conduct taste tests on friends and family before selling to others, so we shall see.  So far we have tried the sirloin and fillet steak and the mince, both absolutely delicious.  Looking forward to trying all the other joints including top rump, silverside, fillet, brisket, rib to name but a few!!
