When we first moved onto the farm we had the whole perimeter securely fenced, leaving individual fields to be done as and when – at least we knew if livestock escaped they could only explore our land!  Some fences were fine but the majority needed replacing or mending in parts.  Relying on electric fencing is not ideal for many reasons so fencing is an ongoing job…..

Whenever we have a quiet period and it is not raining and blowing a gale we get out there with the post knocker.  I think we have become more proficient and it is so rewarding to see a fenced field.  A lot of the jobs we do have to be repeated on a regular basis – at least with fencing it should be a few years before we redo the same one!
