The Dairy

Treathro Farm and Cottages, Trefasser, Pembrokeshire

GENERAL INFORMATION Staying at The Dairy gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the amazing scenery, with access to a multitude of stunning coastal walks and activities, returning to a warm, hospitable and practical base.  Strumble Head (Pen Caer) itself is a glorious wild stretch of the North Pembrokeshire coastal path and has been rated by the National Geographic Magazine as one of the world's greatest walks.  It is one of the best sites in Britain to view porpoise, dolphins, seals which on occasion can be spotted in the tidal races around the headland using binoculars. There small 'secret' coves to discover including Pwll Arian (Silver Cove), Porth Maenmelyn and Pwll Deri where seals play - a walkers, naturalists, photographers and bird watchers paradise. The coastal path is a short walk away down the private farm track, from where there is easy access to whole of the spectacular north Pembrokeshire coastline from the beautiful blue flag beach of Whitesands in St Davids to the harbour town of Fishguard and further north to Newport. The area is ideal for activities for all ages - surfing, sea fishing, horse riding and golf courses are all available in the near vicinity, as well as boat trips to Ramsey (bird watching) and Caldey Island.  This area is renowned for the quality of light and is a wonderful place for artists and photographers.   There is a good leisure centre, independent bookshop and small independent cinema in Fishguard for those rainy days! THE DAIRY This converted dairy makes up one side of the original old farmyard.  It has outstanding views through the huge gable end window over farmland and sea.  The renovation has retained the character of the barn but with a modern twist - white washed walls, vaulted ceilings and  exposed beams. The whole barn is on one level laid with porcelain slate coloured tiles. A range of games, books, DVDs and CDs are available on request for evenings and wet days.   Linen, towels and beach towels are included along with a basket of logs for the woodburner.  A welcome hamper is included containing locally sourced food.  The Dairy is close to the main house and has it's own entrance and private enclosed garden. There is an adjacent farm utility room with extra shower/wc/laundry facilities, good for drying dirty dogs and wet clothes/boots. It can also be used to securely store bikes, surfboards and golf clubs. We do welcome well behaved dogs on the understanding that as this is a working farm they should be on the lead at all times.  This is a ten minute walk along our private farm track .  Please note we have some farm cats who will keep out of the way but may be around sometimes and our own two dogs who have free range of the farm. Please be aware there is no mobile signal (from any provider) in the property or on most of the farm.  However it is possible to make calls whilst inside using WiFi Calling or What's App.  There is a landline for incoming and local calls.  The internet here is not fast but is adequate for most tasks. A travel cot, high chair and fireguard are available on request.
